Empowering Educators: Art and Design Teacher Training for Government Schools

| 2013

A comprehensive teacher training program was organized by Aishwarya Manivannan in collaboration with the NalandaWay Foundation, focusing on integrating art and creativity into the curriculum for government corporation school teachers in Chennai. Over 90 teachers participated in interactive workshops that covered various art techniques, creative lesson planning, and strategies for fostering a supportive learning environment. Recognizing that the Indian education system often overlooks art and design, leaving many corporation schools without specialized art tutors, the program aimed to demonstrate the power of art as a tool for personal development and social change.

By training regular subject teachers in pedagogy principles, design thinking, and creative education, the initiative empowered them to incorporate art into their teaching practices. This approach not only aimed to enhance art education but also to cultivate lateral thinking and leadership skills among students, ultimately enriching the learning experience for all.
